Volunteer Opportunities
Social Services Volunteers
At Golden Age Village, the Social Services Office plays an important role. The goal of social services is to encourage residents to manage their social, psychological and material needs so that they may continue to live independently. Social services include:
- Chinese–English translation
- Community resource referrals
- Group activities
Social service volunteers must be fluent in English and speak Mandarin or Cantonese.
Exercise Class Volunteers
The exercise classes aim to promote health and prevent disease so that residents can enjoy life at GAV. Exercise class volunteers must be fluent in English and speak Mandarin or Cantonese.
Computer Tutor Volunteers
The purpose of the computer class is to help seniors reduce social isolation and loneliness, and enhance life skills through technology training.
Computer tutor volunteers must be fluent in English and speak Mandarin or Cantonese.
English Tutor Volunteers
The goal of the English class is to teach basic English (e.g. taking the bus, asking for translators, asking for directions) so that senior residents can live independently. English tutor volunteers must be fluent in English and speak Mandarin or Cantonese.
