Iris Chi, DSW

Professor Iris Chi is Professor Emerita at the Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, University of Southern California. Before her retirement, she held the Chinese American Golden Age Association/Frances Wu Chair for the Chinese Elderly at the school for 18 years. Earlier, she taught at the University of Hong Kong for 17 years and was the founding director of its Sau Po Centre on Ageing. An expert in aging health and gerontology, Dr. Chi has participated in more than 100 studies and published more than 300 articles and book chapters. She has been named a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare, interRAI, the Phi Tau Phi Scholastic Honor Society of America, and the IAGG Asia/Oceania Region. Dr. Chi is an honorary professor, fellow, consultant and advisor to more than 30 local and overseas universities and research institutes. She also serves as an associate editor and editorial board member for many health, gerontology and social work journals. She has also been honored as Congresswoman Judy Chu’s Woman of the Year.
